Top Rejection Reasons

Oct 21, 2025

Every creator wants their video to get approved on the first try. The good news is that it’’s actually pretty easy once you know what Kale looks for. Understanding how review works means fewer surprises and way more smooth approvals. Think of this as your behind-the-scenes look at what matters most and how to make sure your content passes every time.

Most rejections fall into just three buckets, and once you know them, it is easy to avoid! Here are the top three reasons videos get rejected on Kale and how to fix them before you post:

1. Requirements Not Met

This is the most common reason videos get flagged, and it is usually the easiest to fix. Each challenge on Kale has a few must-haves that make your video eligible for payment. Requirements can include saying the brand name out loud, showing the product clearly, or keeping your video within a certain time limit.

Before you post, take a moment to read the requirements to ensure you’ve hit every point. Uploading your video in the Kale app is another automatic way to check your video to see if any requirements are missing before you post it to your socials.

2. Poor Video Quality

Even the best concept can fall flat if the video quality makes it hard to watch. Poor lighting, low resolution, or unclear audio can make it tough for brands to use your content.

You don’t need fancy equipment to fix this- just natural light, a clean lens, and a quiet space can make a huge difference. Try filming near a window or outside during the day, and take a few extra seconds to make sure that your shot is bright and your camera lens is wiped clean.

You can always find specific tips for improving video quality in the Kale app. Profile > Rising Star OR Icon > Tips to be an Icon.

3. Challenge Not Completed

Sometimes a video looks great, but doesn’t quite complete the full challenge prompt. You never want to skip the key action the brand wants to see.

Always double-check the challenge prompt before you start filming. For example, if the prompt says “show your first sip,” make sure that specific action is visible on screen. These details are crucial to ensuring your content gets approved and paid out.

Once you know what Kale is looking for, creating content that gets approved becomes second nature. Read the requirements, take the time to make sure your video is high-quality, and ensure the challenge is actually completed. Lastly, remember that uploading your video to Kale before posting gives you an instant review in just a few seconds. It’s the easiest way to make sure your video is ready to go live and approved on the first try!
